Evaporative
The process of evaporation involves passing air through a moisture laden “wet
media” cassette pad. By passing through the water laden material, the
air will pick up moisture and carry it to the conditioned space.
The use of water can cause concern, from a hygiene point of view. The fear is that water borne bacteria could pass into the media and then be conveyed from the media into the air stream, by water droplets. Fortunately the only way this situation can develop is if the air velocity rises above the maximum design level of 4m/s, below this level no potentially harmful droplets should be emitted into the air stream. To further minimise any possible bacterial contamination the system should be supplied with either Ultra-Violet or Biocide treated water.
